The SACRAMENT of BAPTISM
Baptism is celebrated at designated times throughout the year.
Parents desiring to present children for Baptism prepare by attending the Baptismal Preparation Program which many parents-to-be begin during a couple’s pregnancy. Please contact Rosemary Couillou, Pastoral Associate, at the Parish Office for further information: 973-239-7960 ext. 104.
The SACRAMENT of RECONCILIATION
Reconciliation is offered weekly for individual confession on Saturday at 1:00pm.
We also offer Communal Services with Individual Confession during Advent and Lent. You may also request a personal appointment at any time. Please contact the Parish Office at 973-239-7960 for more information and requests.
The SACRAMENT of MATRIMONY
Normally, arrangements are to be made one year in advance.
Couples preparing for a Sacramental Marriage are prepared by a priest in a Marriage Preparation Program in accordance with diocesan requirements. Please contact Father JJ for further information at [email protected].
The SACRAMENT of the ANOINTING of the SICK
Anointing is the proper sacrament for those Christians whose health is seriously impaired by sickness both physical and mental or who are burden by old age. This sacrament is celebrated communally twice each year in our Church. This sacrament is also available for those in need on a personal level at any time by appointment. SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION: FIRST PENANCE, FIRST HOLY COMMUNION, and CONFIRMATION
Children who will celebrate these Sacraments are expected to participate in religious education/faith formation in grades 1-8, either as students of Saint Catherine’s School or as students in the parish Faith Formation Program. In Addition to grades 1-8, they must complete the Confirmation classes which takes place in 9th grade. PLEASE NOTE: The Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation have two-year preparation periods. Please contact the Faith Formation Office for further information at 973-239-7960 ext. 202.
OCIA: ORDER of CHRISTIAN INITIATION of ADULTS
OCIA is the formational process for adults who seek sacraments in the Catholics Church either because they have never been Baptized, because they seek communion within the Catholic Church, or because they did not celebrate the sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation, and Eucharist in childhood.
